Hello & thank you for coming view this tutorial web page. You have probably just come from YouTube where you saw one of my tutorial videos that explained how to convert one video file to another video file type. Since the upload of that video I have discovered a much, much faster way of converting video files. So I thought it might be helpful to share this new method with you. This method uses software, as in my video tutorials, but this new software has much better features:
- Convert videos to 1000+ file formats. 30 times faster than the next fastest converter
- Can perform basic video editing tasks such as cropping, adding effects and watermarks (without the need for a seperate video editor)
- Download or record your favorite 4K/HD videos (as a video file on your hard drive e.g. MP4, AVI, MKV, WMV etc.) from popular video sharing sites e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion etc. for enjoyment without Internet connection; Or convert them to compatible formats for playback on TV, smartphone, or other devices.
- There is a Windows and a Mac version available
Step 1
Visit this page to access the software that you will need to download.
Select either Windows or Mac version button and then click the "Try free" button. You will be then asked to choose a location to save the installation file. When you have done this & the file has finished downloading; double left click the installation file and follow all the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. (At the time of the writing of this article the installation file is called video-converter-ultimate_setup_full495.exe. But this name is subject to change). When you have done all that open the UniConverter software
Step 2
When you open the converter you will see the interface as shown in the diagram below. It says "Add or drag files here to start conversion". So you can either drag or drop a file(s) into the folder image or click the folder image to search for the folder where your input file (file that needs converting) is stored.
In the diagram below you can see that I have added my file. The software interface displays technical information regarding the video file. It reminds you that it is a MP4 file and also tells you the video length, the pixels and all that good stuff. On the right (opposite the file preview thumbnail) you can see the "Convert" button. Do not press this yet as you have some more things to do as will be detailed in the next step.
Step 3
Next, drop down the menu (red box) in the box where it says "Target". See the diagram below. The menu will drop down with the "Video" tab open as default.
The menu that drops down allows you to select the ouptut file i.e the type of file that you to convert your input file to. There are multiple file types to select from. If I wanted my MP4 file to be converted to MOV then I would select MOV from the first column. The second column allows you to select the resolution.
Step 4
Next you may choose a folder in which to save your converted file. Down at the bottom of the software interface you will notice the current save destination. You can choose an alternative save destination or just leave it.
Next you may choose a folder in which to save your converted file. Down at the bottom of the software interface you will notice the current save destination. You can choose an alternative save destination or just leave it.
Next all you have to do is click the "Convert" button and the software will commence the conversion process. My 30.38 MB MP4 file took less than 27 seconds to convert (to MOV) using the UniConverter compared to the software (AVS) that I used in all my conversion type videos which took 8.5 minutes! UniConverter, in this case, was 18.9 times faster at converting my MP4 file to a MOV file than AVS video converter.
In the "Converted" tab you can see some details of your file conversion as shown in the image below. Notice the folder icon. When you click this, the software will open the save location for your newly converted file. Also, the share button will allow you to directly upload it to YouTube or Vimeo.
And that's it. That's how quick and easy it is to convert any video file to any other format.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my site and read this tutorial.
Happy converting!
